Overview:
Veloshop is a bike shop specializing in modern and vintage bike sales and maintenance. They needed a logotype that would match their mechanical, yet friendly community minded brand.

The word "velo" in French is a word for bicycle. France has been heavily influential to the history of the sport. To pay homage, I found inspiration in the typography of vintage bike head badge designs. I decided a wedge serif would be a great way to express their burly, yet delicate personality.

Their logo proudly displays at a range of sizes from merchandise, price tags and frame stickers.

Bicyclette:
Bicyclette is a secondary typeface later created and inspired by the Veloshop logo. I decided the font needed to feel sturdy and mechanical to convey the quality workmanship much like the logo. A humanist style font allows for a friendly, mechanical feel since the shop is very community based.

The wedge serifs and narrow width of the logo directly influenced the shapes of the typeface. To be used at a range of sizes, the font is a regular weight with low contrast.
